SMART co-founders awarded Alberta Centennial Medal
Provincial award recognizes David Martin and Nancy Knowlton for contribution to high-tech innovation in Alberta
CALGARY, Alberta --- February 14, 2006 --- SMART Technologies Inc. announces that David Martin, chairman and co-CEO, and Nancy Knowlton, president and co-CEO of SMART Technologies Inc. were awarded the 2005 Alberta Centennial Medal by the province’s Minister of Innovation and Science, the Honorable Victor Doerksen. The award recognizes the impact their work in science and technology has had on innovation in Alberta, and honors their outstanding achievement in making the province a better place to live, work and do business.
Pioneers of the interactive whiteboard market segment, Martin and Knowlton co-founded SMART Technologies Inc. in 1987. The SMART Board™ interactive whiteboard was launched in 1991 and has become an invaluable education and training tool around the world. Under their leadership, SMART continues to create new product categories and find new ways to advance its current product offerings for a growing global market.

The Alberta Centennial Medal was created by the province of Alberta as a one-time commemorative medal to celebrate the province joining Confederation in 1905.
