Environmental Policy

SMART and the WEEE Directive

SMART Technologies supports global efforts to ensure that electronic waste is disposed of in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. As part of that commitment, SMART complies with the requirements of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive, developed by the European Union (EU).

The main purpose of the WEEE Directive is the prevention of waste electrical and electronic equipment. The directive requires that manufacturers ensure proper collection, recycling and treatment processes are in place for all of their products.

WEEE Compliance

When designing its products, SMART takes into account the recovery and dismantling of WEEE. All of our products also comply with WEEE labeling requirements and bear the following WEEE symbol.

WEE

This symbol on SMART products indicates that these products should not be disposed of as household waste. Instead, they should be collected and disposed of separately, using the procedures put in place for the recycling of WEEE in your specific location.

Treatment instructions available

SMART has developed instructions for the safe treatment and proper dismantling of all SMART products. WEEE treatment instructions, specific to each SMART product, are available upon request. Please write your request on official letterhead from your school, company or organization, and e-mail it to info@smarttech.com. A SMART representative will contact you shortly.
