SMART Board Interactive Whiteboard Wins Prestigious 2004 Worlddidac Award
International panel of education experts reaffirms pedagogic value of SMART Board interactive whiteboards
Calgary, AB – July 15, 2004 – SMART Technologies Inc. announces it has won a Worlddidac Award for the SMART Board™ interactive whiteboard from the Worlddidac Foundation, an independent, international trade association for the education market with members in nearly 50 countries. The most prestigious international prize in the education sector, the Worlddidac Awards recognize innovative and pedagogically valuable products with a great potential to improve learning or teaching. The SMART Board interactive whiteboard, which is used in more than 100,000 classrooms in 65 countries, won in the category for hardware-based systems, stationary objects, large models, machinery and furniture. Judging criteria included pedagogic value, innovation, ease of use, design, quality, safety, multifunctionality, adaptability, degree of interactivity, eco-friendliness, aesthetics and performance/cost ratio.
Since the award's inception in 1984, the Worlddidac Foundation has monitored the education industry's development with the objective to encourage the ongoing innovation of educational products. An international jury of education experts from the UK, Switzerland, Germany and the United States selected award winners after an extensive evaluation process. The award presentation will take place on October 26, 2004 in Basel, Switzerland in conjunction with WORLDDIDAC 2004 BASEL. SMART will be exhibiting at this global education trade show that includes all types and levels of education and training, with participants from 70 countries.
