Which SMART products ship with Notebook software?
Notebook software ships with the following products: the SMART Board interactive whiteboard (any model), the Senteo interactive response system, the AirLiner wireless slate and the Sympodium interactive pen display.
Will I still get a CD package of Notebook software with eligible SMART hardware?
Yes. The CD package that ships with eligible SMART hardware products will contain two CDs: the first runs the SMART product drivers, and the second contains an evaluation copy of Notebook software, SMART Tools and Gallery content. To activate your evaluation copy of Notebook software, you will need to register for a product key.
What do I need to activate Notebook software 10?
Notebook software 10 activation requires a product key. To get a product key, you must do the following:
- Enter the serial number of one piece of eligible SMART hardware at:
www.smarttech.com/NB10productkey
- Receive a product key for the software via e-mail and a Web link to download the software
What do I do with the product key?
When you install Notebook software 10, you will be asked to enter a product key. If you do not enter a key at that time, the software will default to a 30-day evaluation. Then, each time the software is launched following the install, you will be prompted to enter a product key again. This will continue until a key is entered or the evaluation period expires. To enter a product key after the software is installed, you can access the activation dialog box from either Notebook software help files or the Notebook software 10 Welcome Center.
Additionally, administrators will be able to use the Administrator Toolkit to perform a network push of the software across an entire organization.
If my school owns multiple hardware products, do I need multiple product keys to activate Notebook software 10?
No. You only need one product key to activate Notebook software 10 across a whole school or a district.
Can the same product key be used on all computers in the organization? What about the teacher and student take-home privileges?
Yes. The same product key can be used by everyone in the organization and can be shared with the teachers and students for use at home. Additionally, more than one product key can be used within an organization.
Can students use Notebook software 10 at home?
Yes. Students can enjoy the take-home privileges that come with a Notebook software 10 license. They can also use Notebook interactive viewer that is available for download. This allows students to open and interact with files without permanently altering them.
Can I register for my product key from any computer?
Yes. You can register for your product key from any computer. This is useful in cases where the computer on which you are running Notebook software isn’t connected to the Internet. Simply register for your product key on a computer connected to the Internet, then use the product key provided to activate your software on the computer running Notebook software 10.
I’ve misplaced my product key. What do I do?
If you misplace a product key, contact SMART technical support. NOTE: In order to assist you, SMART technical support will need the serial number of a piece of eligible SMART hardware.
Do I have to pay to upgrade to Notebook software 10?
No, current SMART customers can visit our registration page to download Notebook software 10.
Can I buy a license for Notebook software 10?

Can I install Notebook software over a network?
Yes, SMART offers an Install Manager in the Administrator Toolkit that will help network administrators install the software with activation intact and custom options.
Do I need to uninstall my current version of Notebook software to install Notebook software 10?
For Microsoft Windows operating systems, you will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the previous version of Notebook software and install Notebook software 10. If you say yes, Notebook software 10 will replace your previous version.
For Mac OS operating systems, you will receive a notice informing you that you need to remove your previous version of Notebook software before installing Notebook software 10. The system will not allow you to continue to install Notebook software 10 until the previous version has been removed.
What is the difference between Notebook software and SMART product drivers?
Notebook software is the collaborative learning software that has tools and resources for teaching dynamic lessons on the SMART Board interactive whiteboard. The SMART product driver enables the full feature set of your SMART hardware.
Can I import and export files from Microsoft Office 2007 into Notebook software 10?
Yes, Notebook software 10 has the facility for importing files with the most recent extensions for Microsoft Office 2007. When exporting to PowerPoint, Notebook software will save the file with a .ppt extension.
Will Notebook software work with the Senteo interactive response system?
Yes. Please note that the order of installation is critical. To complete the proper installation, you must install Senteo service pack 3 first and then install Notebook software 10.
