3000i

How is the Rear Projection SMART Board 3000i interactive whiteboard different from other rear-projection systems?

The 3000i not only gives you the shadow-free, clear image of standard rear-projection systems but also a high-resolution XGA (1024 x 768) custom lens and 2,560 lumens – for a sharp, detailed image.

The 3000i also has a unique design suited for smaller spaces. Its custom-designed projector lens requires a short throw distance, so the slim, tapered cabinet is only 29 ¼” (74 cm) deep and fits easily through standard doorways and positions discreetly into corners.

For what types of rooms is the 3000i appropriate?

The 3000i is suitable for boardrooms, classrooms and meeting rooms – rooms that hold from five to fifty people. The large screen provides a clear view in larger rooms, while the streamlined design allows the 3000i to fit into small spaces as well. Its high image quality accommodates the 3000i to brightly lit rooms, and the unit is mobile, so you can share resources between rooms.

The cabinet storage space, optional video camera shelf and software functionality also help make the 3000i an ideal conferencing system.

What makes the interactive whiteboard touch sensitive?
SMART’s DViT technology makes the screen touch sensitive. Digital cameras in the corners of the screen's frame, or bezel, track contact with the surface, and sophisticated software translates this information into mouse clicks or digital ink.

What are the advantages of DViT technology?

DViT technology delivers precise touch input, intuitive use and a high-quality image. The digital cameras and processors reside in the screen’s frame, or bezel. Unlike other touch systems, the technology requires neither special layers in the screen nor special pen tools.

Consequently, you have a clear, bright rear-projection image, as well as the trademark interactive whiteboard advantages you expect from SMART. You can use your finger or any other pointing device to touch the surface, and you have both a durable system and accurate touch control.

Which computer applications can I use?

Most applications that you can use on your computer will work on a SMART Board interactive whiteboard. Some commonly used applications, including Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word, and AutoCAD, are especially well-integrated for use with SMART Board interactive whiteboards. Depending on the application, you can save files with notes, convert handwriting to text or activate tools when you pick up a pen from the SMART Pen Tray.

While any software will work on a SMART Board interactive whiteboard, some applications are designed specifically for them. These applications may feature large buttons and scroll bars for easy manipulation and low toolbars for easy access by children or seated users.

Can I use the interactive whiteboard for conferencing?

Yes. The interactive screen is ideal for both videoconferencing and data-conferencing.

SMART Board software works with many conferencing applications. For simple, effective data-conferencing, the software has advanced integration with SMART’s Bridgit software.

Is the screen surface durable?
Yes. The surface is very durable. It has an anti-smudge, anti-glare front sheet for easy cleaning and a high-quality image.

Can someone without a SMART Board interactive whiteboard view my notes?

Yes. There are several ways to share notes with someone who doesn't have a SMART Board interactive whiteboard.

You can download the Notebook interactive viewer and share files with anyone, even those who don’t have the full version of Notebook software. Or, if you're running the latest version of Notebook software for Windows operating systems, you can save your files as .pdf, .htm or .jpg files. To upgrade your software, visit the software library.

Finally, since SMART Board software comes with SMART’s interactive products, you can give other users in your organization the SMART Board software disks or the software can be downloaded from the SMART website. With SMART Board software installed, Notebook files can be opened, edited and saved from any desktop. You can even share files across platforms. Any computer running SMART Board software, regardless of operating system, can open Notebook files.

How does the interactive whiteboard know which SMART Pen Tray tool I am using?
Optical sensors in the pen tray automatically detect when a tool is lifted and send this information to the computer. If you pick up the red pen, your next contact with the surface will be in red ink. If you pick up the eraser, your next contact will erase the ink. LED lights indicate which tool is active. If more than one tool is removed from the tray, the last tool selected will be active.

How do I right-click without a mouse?
Simply press the right mouse button on the SMART Pen Tray, and your next touch will be a right-click.

Can I integrate the 3000i with a room-control system?
Yes. An optional room-control module is available. It integrates the 3000i with your room-control system, so projector, audio and source switching can be controlled from the system.
