SMART classroom integration
The SMART Slate enables you to interact and teach with your SMART Board interactive whiteboard or SMART Podium from anywhere in the room.
Simultaneous interaction
A student can write on the SMART Board interactive whiteboard at the same time as a classmate writes on the SMART Slate and both students’ work will show up simultaneously, enabling more collaboration on the fly.
Integration with ink-aware applications
The slate enables you to write and save notes directly into ink-aware applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint.
SMART Notebook software
The SMART Slate is fully compatible with SMART Notebook software, which enables you to easily create, teach and manage interactive lessons within a single application. Your notes and graphics can be saved as objects that you can manipulate and organize. All of your work can be saved to a single file that is compatible with Windows and Linux operating systems. Support for Mac operating system coming soon.
Battery-free, tethered pen
The SMART Slate includes a battery-free, tethered pen which is used on the slate’s surface to control applications, write notes and highlight information. The pen writes with precision and has a user-defined shortcut button and dedicated eraser. Since there are no batteries in the pen, it’s maintenance free.
Printed underlay
With the SMART Slate, you’ll have access to printable sheets that you can fit under the plastic cover of the surface. Each underlay features customizable icons that are organized into a toolbar. Simply touch an icon with the slate’s pen to choose the tool you want, such as the pen, eraser, right-click or screen capture.
Electromagnetic surface
The 6.8" x 4.26" (17.3 cm x 10.8 cm) electromagnetic screen only recognizes the pen as an input, so you can rest your hand on the screen naturally. The active area becomes proportional to any screen size for accurate contact.
Programmable buttons
The three customizable buttons on the slate and the user-defined rocker switch on the pen provide easy access your favourite functions.
Rechargeable lithium-polymer battery
The slate’s battery has a charge time of 6.5 hours, and a battery life of at least 24 hours of continuous use. Plus, the slate has a physical power switch to ensure that the battery doesn’t drain during periods of non-use.
USB cable
Conveniently charge the slate’s battery by attaching it to your computer with the included USB cable.
Bluetooth adapter
The slate’s Class 2 Bluetooth adapter has an expected range of 32 feet (10 m) and a maximum range of 164 feet (50 m) in free space.
Ergonomic and portable design
The slate has a small, light form factor for improved ergonomics and easy transport around the classroom.
Kensington security lock
If you need to secure the slate in a room, the Kensington security lock provides an easy way to attach a lock-and-cable apparatus.
International language support
The SMART Slate supports nine languages, including English (US and UK), Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, French, German, Mexican Spanish, Russian, Arabic and Castilian (European) Spanish.
