Multitouch, multiuser surface
Because several children can work simultaneously on the table, it promotes collaboration. The multitouch capability is based on SMART's own DViT™ (Digital Vision Touch) technology. The table's display has an excellent contrast ratio and infrared immunity, so you can operate the table in the most challenging lighting conditions.
Easy for students
Thanks to the table's intuitive interface, students can start working right away – text and audio instructions are built into the activities. And manipulating objects on the table through touch is natural and easy for the youngest of students. The table recognizes gestures, so students can easily slide, enlarge, shrink or rotate objects.
Easy for teachers
Just turn on the table and teach. The ready-made activities can be used as is, or they can be modified to suit your lessons. The table works with both Mac and Windows® operating systems. The power button enables you to turn on the table quickly, but because the button must be pushed and held to turn the table off, it deters students from shutting the table down. And the table comes with a USB bracelet that gives you a convenient way to transfer digital activities from the table to your personal computer and back.
SMART Table toolkit
The SMART Table toolkit, which comes with the table, is a stand-alone application that runs on the teacher computer. It enables you to download and customize SMART Table applications or create your own content using SMART Notebook Gallery items and graphics and video from other sources. You can also preview activities on your personal computer, seeing them as they would appear on the table. The toolkit supports up to 50 applications.
Customizable activities
The SMART Table comes with a variety of applications, which incorporate activities that can be customized to suit particular lessons or themes. Download customizable SMART Table lesson activities from our educator resources webpage. These interactive activities correspond with SMART-created lesson activities and SMART Response question sets. New activities will be added on an ongoing basis, and you can submit your own activities for other to use, so our list of activities grows constantly.
The applications include:
- Multiple choice – Students answer questions by dragging their answer to a central image
- HotSpots – Students identify parts of a diagram by dragging labels to the right spot
- HotSpaces – Students sort items by dragging them into groups
- Paint – Students select colors and effects and then paint with their fingers
- Media – Students drag or resize photos and videos
- Addition – Students work together to solve math problems
- Puzzle – Students work together to solve a tangram or jigsaw puzzle
- Addition Plus – Students sort items by dragging them into groups
Third-party applications
Image Reveal (created by Vectorform) enables students to uncover an image by answering the question blocks that hide the image.
The table's collection of applications will continue to grow over the coming months. We are looking for researchers and developers to add more applications to the table.
Teacher interface
Use the teacher interface to control volume, change the number of students on an activity, download the SMART Table toolkit, or access your personal library of table activities.
Promotes collaboration
The table's applications and activities promote collaboration through discussion, collective problem-solving and consensus building. When students collaborate successfully, they're rewarded with auditory and visual feedback.
Enables flexible small-group learning
The table is an ideal learning center for primary classrooms. It helps you move easily from whole-class to small-group activities.
Complements other SMART products
The table complements the SMART Board interactive whiteboard and the SMART Document Camera, and works with SMART Sync classroom management software though a WiFi connection (on Windows operating system only). The complementary nature of the table gives you increased flexibility through a variety of product configurations.
The following are some of the activities enabled by these product combinations:
- Synchronize content remotely that has been downloaded or created on your personal computer to the SMART Table
- Capture and print a completed table activity screen from applications like Paint and Media, using SMART Sync
- View the table screen as a thumbnail on your own desktop using SMART Sync
- Show the table screen on the interactive whiteboard using SMART Sync
- Transfer applications and activities from the your computer to the table using a USB key or SMART Sync
Automatic updates
SMART supplies automatic updates through the SMART Product Update in the SMART Table toolkit. And there is no need to retrofit products – they will support future software updates without any upgrading.
Durable
The table's sturdy structure means it can handle any jolts and bumps, and its surface is easy to maintain because scratch proof and water resistant. You can clean it with any alcohol-free, household glass cleaner. The projector and computer are also protected by the locked cabinet.
Mobile
Because the table is mounted on casters, it's easily moved from class to class. Detach the power cord from the table when moving it, and it fits through standard doorways.
Stereo sound
The table features stereo sound, which can be easily controlled through the teacher menu on the table.
