Product recall notice – USB audio system for SMART Board 600 series interactive whiteboards (SBA-NA), (SBA-UK) and (SBA-AU)

In early 2006, SMART recalled all SBA-NA, SBA-UK and SBA-AU USB audio systems for the SMART Board 600 series shipped up until May 25, 2006. In a few isolated incidents the speakers were overheating, causing the internal speaker cone to ignite. SMART would like to thank all resellers, distributors and customers who cooperated with the recall.

If you have not yet replaced the recalled speakers, stop using them and unplug the speakers immediately. Please see this diagram if assistance is required unplugging the speakers.

SMART has only received four reports of the speakers overheating, causing internal damage to the speakers. No other property damage resulted. No other SMART products are at risk or are affected by this recall.

Free replacement process

The safety hazard resides in one of the pair’s speakers only. The speaker that poses the safety hazard houses the amplifier and can be identified as the speaker with the volume knob and USB receptacles.
